San Diego Vacancy Survey

The San Diego County Apartment Association conducts, and publishes a quarterly apartment vacancy survey. The study is mailed to over 9,000 rental property owners and managers throughout San Diego County. Survey results are recorded anonymously by respondents, providing a representative multi-family industry sampling, extending across a full spectrum of property sizes extending from ten units and larger, reported by zip code.

Information provided includes summations of:

• Vacancy by:
  • ZIP code
  • Region, according to property age.
• Rental rates in four key unit types - studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom floorplans - by ZIP code.
