Apartment communities are occasionally converted from rental housing to other uses. A listing of known conversions incorporates sub-categories as:
- Condominiums – partial conversion
- Condominiums – principally owned as a primary or secondary residence
- Time-share
- Senior housing
- Hotels
The partially converted condominium incorporates units owned by individuals for their personal residence – either primary or secondary – and by individuals holding units for investment. The partial conversion often allows owners to make their apartments available through a rental pool. Condominiums principally owned as a primary or secondary residence are defined as having been fully converted.
